Hannah Salo
Hannah was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. Having been a student of late Professor Mats Rondin and having completed her Master’s Degree from Lund University, Sweden under his guidance, she passed her exam ”With Distiction”. Professor Rondin described her as being ”... a talented cellist, who plays with musicality and intelligence. Her playing is a combination of good technique and a warm sound”.
Today Hannah has established herself as a charismatic cellist with a wide repertoire that reaches from Bach to contemporary composers. She captures her audience with her musicality and inspiring interpretation. Sincerity and sensivity have made her an appreciated chamber musician. Per Nyström, cellist and Art Director of the former Aurora Chamber Music Festival wrote about her ”Hannah Salo has proven a determined and sensitive talent. She is a very curious person and musician who is always striving forward".
Hannah has performed at several international chamber music festivals, such as Båstad Chamber Music Festival, Art Link Belgrade, Aurora Chamber Music Festival and Music Around Öresund. She has also participated in Peter The Great Festival and Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. Being a passionate chamber musician she has performed in quartets in Norway, Denmark and Serbia. She has also toured in Estonia, Lithuania, and Czechia.
Hannah’s openess for collaboration and her versatility has led to recordings for the Danish Radio, pop artists, audio educational materials and independent movies as well as performances in opera and theatre projects and educational musicology projects. Since 2012 she appears as a soloist and a duo partner in different programmes in Germany, The Netherlands, Finland and Sweden. Hannah has studied musicology at the University of Gothenburg. She received awards from Sandrew Metronome and The Royal Academy of Music in Sweden, a. o. During 2017 she has kept a teaching position in Germany.
Hannah gratefully received guidance from Maja Vogl, Konstantin Bogino, Dorel Fodoreanu, Gary Hoffman, Per Nyström, Raphael Wallfisch, Jian Wang, Hege Waldeland, Michel Strauss, Robert Cohen and Marko Ylönen amongst others.
Today Hannah works as a freelance cellist.
